The Balconies.

One of the best moments of my time at NXNE (though there were a lot) was seeing The Balconies play at Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto. Part of the Live in Bellwoods series and organized jointly (hee hee) by Humble Empire and Young Lions Music Club, it was a great way to spend an afternoon listening to music.

The Balconies are a new favourite, and I’m thrilled to say I’ve had the opportunity to see them a lot recently. The trio are generally a powerful electric rock outfit, however for the picnic concert they reorganized to form “Classic Balconies” (as bassist Stephen Neville told me they refer to it), playing a classical guitar, viola and double bass.

Check out these official videos from the gig (June 17) and you’ll see what I mean. Don’t you wish you were there too?
