My suitcase.

Bush Days — I still have my first band shirt. I’m sure it comes as no surprise that it’s a Bush shirt, given the nature of these posts as I wait for the new record to be released. But what may come as a surprise is the fact that I’ve had it for better than twelve years now.

It came about the same time as I got my first copy of Razorblade Suitcase, beginning a period of literally close to two years in which I listened to very little else. But the record inspired me to learn to play guitar, guided me into discovering graphic design, and drew me into the world of music like very few records had before. Or have since, mind you.

My oldest friend Slava gave it to me for my sixteenth (I think) birthday, and thanks to his foresight — evident in his choosing the XL shirt over something that wouldn’t have billowed on me at the time — it still fits me today. I don’t wear it very often, of course, since I’m interested in having it for a few years yet to come, but it’s every bit as comfortable as the day I got it. And awesome.
