Lyrics Game.

So my friend Andrew posted this game on Facebook recently, and despite my pretty vast mental lyric database I was pretty stuck for the answers. I figure my own collection is maybe a bit easier to recognize, though, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

Two things though; the songs below are culled from what I have on my iPod right now (I’m constantly switching albums, so I’m not necessarily the hugest fan of what might be below), and I decided to cut it short at 20 songs. Outside of that, here it is:

  • Put your music player on shuffle.
  • Post the first line (unless the first line reveals the song title) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
  • Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and song title correctly.
  • Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
  • If you like the game, post your own.

01 “Stranded in this spooky town; stoplights are swaying and the phone lines are down. This floor is crackling cold, she took my heart, I think she took my soul.”

02 “Is there anyone who ever remembers changing their mind from the paint on a sign? Is there anyone who really recalls ever breaking rank at all from something someone yelled real loud one time?”

03 “Let me go, boys, let me go. Push my boat from the highest cliff to the sea below.”

04 “Strung up and tuned to the key of anxiety, he watches intently. Stayed up, ruined another day of sleep, he drifts off immediately, and he’s dreaming…”

05 “Place your head on mine, untie your mind. Let your bloated brain balloon and float away.”

06 “You’re such a flirt, I know you hurt – and so do I, I empathize.”

07 “You’re the analyst – the fungus in my milk – when you want no one, and you got someone.”

08 “You say it’s not going to work out. Why do you have to tell me now?”

09 “Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone. Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you…”

10 “It’s the consequence of privileged information. You can run, you can hide, but light will find a way.”

11 “So when she lays down, it’ll be with me. Lord, she’ll lay down with me.”

12 “I hate to see you cry, lying there in that position.”

13 “Does the shadow live forever? Will this graveyard be the dance floor for these corpses?”

14 “So our open wounds will bleed until our veins run dry, now we have to take this thorn and tear it from our side.”

15 “They stand to fight for nothing, and show how stupid we’ve become, as fortune favours only those who care too much to see…”

16 “The AST took my baby from me, and there is no touching here.”

17 “I used to rule the world – Caesar’d rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone, sweep the streets I used to own.”

18 “I’m giving up all expectations that I will live a meaningful life. I once was filled with inspiration – that lion heart has lost his pride.”

19 “If only I had truthfully seen, that night we’ll never relive. But you and I could not go and walk away.”

20 “The bridge is all crumbled, the water soaks into rocks that fell at the bottom of the road (at the end of the town).”
