What I learned today.

Teh engine.
Recent trouble with the van overheating caused us to do some research and find that the van was running really low on coolant (antifreeze), so we picked some up the other night. I learned that coolant running through the engine’s radiator disperses heat to keep the engine from overheating while in use.

I also learned that over time, coolant can break down and become sludgy, becoming more of a hindrance; in such a way, it can actually promote the degradation of the certain parts, and fill with bits of rust itself. From time to time, it’s important to completely flush out and refill the coolant lines, just like engine oil itself.

Also, I learned that there isn’t too much specific information on the Internet for Chevrolet Astro vans circa 1997, but that at times a general knowledge of what needs to be done can suffice. And trust me, I wouldn’t do anything if I thought I’d fudge anything up.

Spend the 20$ and go to Canadian Tire and buy the manual
Or I think you can download the manual if you look hard enough ; going through different forums can be frustrating if you don’t know what you are looking for
Plus, those manuals from Canadian Tire should be the first thing you buy when you buy a new car

I know I’m old. Just stay off my lawn.
