I’m bringing sexy back, not him.

I love New Music Tuesdays. And anyone who isn’t tripping over themselves to get the new cd from that other guy knows that John Mayer’s new disc, Continuum, is fresh on the shelves today.
John Mayer has recently reinvented himself, shedding his acoustic-pop flavour for the moodier tone of electric blues. With Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino, he formed the (now apparently defunct) John Mayer Trio, toured and released Try!, a live album of blues gems including covers of Jimi Hendrix and Ray Charles.
Though it features mostly new tracks, Continuum features studio versions of a few gems from Try! And while you’re over buying the record from Amazon, you can check out a killer video clip of Johnny performing “Vultures” in the studio with his band. Dont miss this.
Don’t be fooled by his earlier records - Johnny is an incredible guitar player.
John Mayer Trio - “Out Of My Mind” live
Some tracks worth hearing:
Gravity (Studio version, from Continuum)
The Wind Cries Mary (Jimi Hendrix cover, live)
Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (live, with Thom Yorke’s Eraser as an outro)
Buy Continuum.
PS. if you live in Toronto like we do, you may be pleased to know that John Mayer will be in town for a free concert at Dundas Square, Yonge & Dundas, this Saturday (9/16) at 4 pm.
